The Hypoglycemia Association is a nonprofit educational organization that helps hypoglycemics understand and control their symptoms. The Association has combined monthly meetings with the Well Mind Association, which include discussions and speakers from medical and related fields. In addition, the Association publishes informative bulletins and additional literature for physicians, patients, and the public. The HAI proposes a diet which consists of adequate protein and restricted carbohydrate intake.

The "Well Mind Association of Greater Washington, Inc." is an all volunteer non-profit organization. The association has an extensive collection of health books and cassettes/videos of their speakers for sale. For lists of each, write or call the above address. Lectures monthly reviewed in newsletters issued 9 times per year.

The HELP-Institute serves to promote public awareness of body chemistry problems within the context of general health. Seeks to collect, verify, and distribute information related to body chemistry and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Conducts seminars regarding nutrition, exercise, life style, and emotional stability. Develops support groups and encourages communication among it's members and maintains a library.
The institute publishes the 'Advocate Newsletter'. Includes information on body chemistry, nutrition, and related medical research. Makes available: Low Blood Sugar Handbook, Low Blood Sugar Cookbook, Cholesterol Lowering and Controlling Handbook and Cookbook, and Vital Health Fact and Composition of Foods.
The Anxiety & Hypoglycemia Study Group was founded in New York City by Prof. J.H. Levitt of Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in 1994. The purpose of the group is to help people learn about the most common causes of biochemical imbalance: reactive hypoglycemia, food allergy, nutritional deficiencies, toxins, and infections.

The American Dietetic Association is a professional organization for registered dietitians. It publishes a variety of materials for patient and professional education and supports an information and referral service for the general public. The NORD, Inc., is a clearinghouse for information for members
and the public. They maintain a large Rare Disease Database and
offer reprints of disease articles at $4.00 per copy, incl. P&H.

awareness of diabetes and supports and promotes diabetes research
and education. The ADA distributes printed information on many
aspects of diabetes, and local affiliates sponsor community programs.
Local affiliates, located in every state, are listed in telephone
directories or can be located by contacting the national office.
The Joslin Diabetes Center promotes diabetes research, educate patients and teach professional personnel, maintain summer camps for diabetic children, provides treatment through the clinic. The Joslin Research Laboratory does basic and clinical research and serves as a training center for other physician-investigators in diabetes research.
The Center publishes a variety of materials, including brochures
containing basic information about diabetes, traveling with diabetes,
psychological and emotional aspects, insulin, diet and exercise,
and reactive hypoglycemia.
The National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse is a service
of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney
Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health, under the
U.S. Public Health Service. The clearinghouse, established in
1978, is designed to increase knowledge and understanding about
diabetes among patients and their families, health care professionals,
and the public. The clearinghouse answers inquiries; develops,
reviews, and distributes publications; and works closely with
professional and patient organizations and government agencies
to coordinate resources about diabetes.
The JDF is a private, voluntary organization that promotes
research and public education in diabetes, primarily insulin-dependent
diabetes. Local chapters, located across the country, are listed
in telephone directories or can be found by contacting the national
office.
The foundation sells a directory of health care providers for
$6.00.
Maintains a state-by-state list of doctors who specialize in adrenal diseases. The foundation also produces a quarterly newsletter, N.A.D.F. News that keeps patients and families informed about developments relating to adrenal disorders. Also provides information on support groups around the country and questions/answers. $25 contribution for single members and $30 for couples.
